When and why do we gather personal information about you?

Personal information about you can be gathered when you subscribe to one of our services, as for example, when you post or modify your message, when you file your subscription, ask for a certification, enter a contest or answer a mini-poll, when you use the Dial Web etc...
In most cases, personal information gathered by Netclub is transmitted directly by yourself or other members.

What kind of information do we gather?

There may be cases where personal information is necessary to certify your message ( your e-mail address, postal code, region, country sex and date of birth) and other cases where it is optional but necessary if you whish to receive certain products or services or if you wish to take part in activities or receive certain offers ( your cell phone number, your address, information on your physical appearance, personal values, interest towards various products or services and the frequency of use of such products).
Personal information concerning other people.
In some cases, personal information concerning other people will be gathered as, for instance, their name and e-mail address when you send them a virtual card, a form or various other material outside the site.
Non personal information
Some non personal information can be gathered as for instance, your internet browser (Explorer, Netscape, etc.) the operating system you use (Windows, Mac Os, etc. ) your IP address or your Internet supplier.
Outside information
Netclub can sometimes store information it has received “online” with information obtained from outside sources in order to improve commercial products or services which could interest you. If you prefer not to receive those offers, you must go to your personal profile in the section “My Message/My account” and deselect the corresponding check box and click on “Update my Account”

Information gathered about you by Netclub and its affiliated distributors is used exclusively to offer you various services. Every precautions have been taken to store this information in a safe environment. Only some of our employees have access to this information and only when necessary. It is never shared with third parties nor sold without your consent.
You have access to your personal information on the site in the section “My message” then “My account” or “My profile”. You alone can modify it except if the general terms and conditions have not been respected.
The other partners and announcers
Netclub can sometimes share demographic information with its selected partners in order to allow them to target their ads (based on factors such as the age, sex etc.) However, we do not give them any information allowing them to identify you.

What is a “cookie” and how do we use it on our site?

A “cookie” is a file sent by a server and stored on your computer when you visit web sites or use certain options on those sites. “cookies” are used on many web sites to identify you when you visit them. If you return on a site you have already visited, the “cookie” allows the site to identify your pseudonym, your password or to post some content you have already laid out.
Some people believe that “cookies” infringe on their privacy. It is true that in certain circumstances they can be linked to databases accessible to hundreds of sites. Netclub is not one of those sites and does not use that type of “cookies”. Since Netclub members provide a detailed personal profile, the use of such “cookies” would be useless.
“cookies” cannot retrieve any information from your computer except the information already in the “cookies” themselves. “cookies” cannot “steal” your e-mail address or any other information which you would not have supplied yourself. What “cookies” can do is stock information, between your visits on the site, on your own computer and transmit that information back every time you come back on the site.
Every time you give an information on a site, such information can be added to the information already stored in the “cookie”. If you prefer not to have information stored in “cookies”, you can modify the options of the navigator on your computer so that it will warn you each time a “cookie” is sent or simply refuse all “cookies”. Unfortunately, if you refuse “cookies”, you might be limited to partial access to certain sites and to certain services and could even be denied any access.

Our site offers links to other sites having a different policy from ours concerning the protection of personal information. We recommend that you consult the personal information protection policy of each site since we cannot control the information posted or gathered by those sites.
From time to time we offer contests or promotions in association with partners or sponsors. In such cases, those third parties could obtain personal information about you but only if you supply them voluntarily by participating in those events. Netclub has no control on how those third parties may use such information.

How to have access to and modify your personal information

To modify the information you have posted on the site, go to the section “my message”. For any change, correction or updating of your personal information choose the content you wish to modify in the sections “My Message/My account” and “My Message/My profile”. In the section “My Message/My account” you can also ask that your message be deleted.
